Michael Crutchley
Councillor Michael Crutchley has lived in Stratford-upon-Avon all his life, being born and raised in Tiddington with his brother and three sisters. He was educated at Alveston Junior School and King Edward VI Grammar School.
Michael married Janet in 1956 at Holy Trinity Church and has two daughters and five grandchildren.
Joining the Town Council in 1999, Michael Crutchley was proud and honoured to be appointed Mayor on 20 May, 2004.
Career History:
After serving with the Army during the Suez Crisis, Councillor Crutchley, gained experience in life assurance and as a salesman in the food industry. Most of his working life was working with the NHS as a leading Ambulance Man, and later as a Civilian Enquiry Officer with the Warwickshire Police.

Community Interests:
Michael serves on the Council’s Planning Consultative Committee and is also a member of the General Purposes Committee. He is Chairman of the Heritage Open Days sub-committee.
He is also Chairman of Tiddington Village Residents Association.
In 1982 his wife Janet had a successful operation to remove a brain tumour. Since then, Michael and Janet have worked tirelessly to raise money for charity and over the years have raised in excess of £60,000. Considerable funding was achieved by organising the local event “It’s a Knock Out”, which he eventually handed over to the “Stratford Lions”, who still run it to this day.
Both he and Janet serve on the committee of the local branch of Cancer Research UK to which Michael was appointed secretary.
Leisure Activities
In earlier years, 1951-1973, Michael was an Association Football Referee. Nowadays he enjoys DIY, Singing 40’s and 50’s music, and gardening.
A family man at heart, whenever possible both Michael and Janet enjoy nothing more than visiting the girls and spending time with their grandchildren.
