Roy Lodge
Revd. Dr. Roy Lodge MBE was educated in Watford and Bristol and is married to Gina, the retired Chair of Governors of Willows C of E School and involved in various community projects. They have one son, a Headmaster living in St Albans and are proud grandparents to two grandchildren.
A former Great Britain International Athlete, he also served for ten years in the T.A.
Roy was awarded the MBE in 1997 for services to H.M. Prison Service and is holder of the Prison Service Butler Trust award which he received in 1995.
He is Chaplain to the Stratford-upon-Avon Air Cadets and uniquely, is the first serving Councillor to hold the position of Mayor’s Chaplain which he has done consecutively since 2004. He was appointed by the Mayor, Councillor Michael Crutchley on 20 May, 2004 and went on to obtain the Mayoral office himself in May, 2006. |

Career History:
Roy is a Clinical Psychologist and a retired Clerk in Holy Orders. His career includes Housemaster; Principal of Home Office Probation Institute; Commissioned Officer Royal Air Force and Consultant H.M. Prison Service.
Community Interests:
Cllr Lodge serves on the Finance & Scrutiny Committee and Mayoral & Protocol Committee as well as a further two sub-committees, acting as Chairman of Christmas Lights Switch-On Committee and as part of the newsletter editorial team. Although not the Council’s appointed representative, Christmas Lights Co Ltd requested that he stayed on as a committee member, following his year as President when he was Mayor and he remains a committed and active member.
Roy is a former Lay Chair of N.H.S. Patients Complaints Procedure.
Leisure Activities
President of the Avon Probus Club and member of the Stratford Society. Roy prefers classical music, plays the flute and enjoys singing with the Tarantara Choir. His reading preferences are towards philosophy, history, theology, criminology and psychology. More active pursuits will see him at the gym, on his bicycle and fell walking.
