Title - Guild and Hathaway Ward

Sheila Alice Edith Price

Born in Ebbw Vale, Sheila Price settled comfortably in Stratford-upon-Avon when her husband, Norman was appointed Deputy Treasurer of the Borough of Stratford-on-Avon in 1968.  They have two sons, Stephen and Jonathan, and six grandchildren.

Career History:
As well as being a committed wife and mother, Sheila has worked for W H Smith for twenty-five years before retiring in 1997.

Community Interests:
Councillor Price was first appointed to the Town Council in 1999, stepping down in 2006 but re-elected in 2010 and was a popular choice for Mayor in May 2001.  Currently Sheila serves on the Town Council’s Mayoral & Protocol and Planning Consultative Committees and is also a member of Council’s Christmas Lights Switch-On working party.

Sheila was one of the founding Trustees of the Stratford-upon-Avon Town Trust and served as one of the Town Council’s appointed representatives to the Trust for many years.

She is the Chairman of the Afternoon Townswomen’s Guild, and is Chairman of St Joseph’s and a member of the Mayor’ Fund, of which she is Vice Chairman.  Sheila is Governor of Shottery Junior School and sits on the Board of Directors for the Council of Voluntary Services, now known as VASA.  Among other things, she is also Chairman of the local Gilbert & Sullivan Society.

Leisure Activities
In keeping with Welsh tradition, Sheila enjoys nothing more than singing.  Extremely talented, she was a founder member of the Stratford-upon-Avon Gilbert & Sullivan Society and is now a life member.  Her singing ability has been used to enhance her commitment to Christianity and has seen her singing at St Andrew’s  Shottery for the past twenty-five years.  When she has a moment, you will find her seconded with her piano.  Her love of singing has been passed to her younger son, and both Sheila and Norman are unashamed “groupies” whenever Jonathan appears locally.

Councillor Price is a social animal and her broad circle of interests amounts to an even wider circle of social activities and friends
