Councillors - Avenue and New Town Ward

Edward Keith Lloyd

Independent for Avenue and New Town since 1999

Councillor Edward Keith Lloyd (known as Keith) represents Avenue & New Town Ward as an Independent. He was born in Ruthin, North Wales.  Educated at Friars Grammar School, Bangor, North Wales and moved to Stratford-upon-Avon in 1974. In 1989, Keith married his wife, Elaine. They have five children.

Career History
Keith served as one of the last pupils at the former Hugh Clopton School, proceeded into employment at Young Engineering, Stratford and then advanced onto junior and middle management positions in automotive purchasing at Pianoforte Supplies Plastics, Wellesbourne, Warwickshire.

Community Interests
Joining the Council in 1999, Councillor Lloyd is one of the longest serving Councillors who had yet to serve as Mayor. However, on 19 May, 2011 he was elected as Deputy Mayor and should take office as Mayor at Mayor Making in May, 2012. He follows in his father’s footsteps, as his late father, Edward Lloyd, a former Town Clerk in both England and Wales, also served as Stratford-upon-Avon Town Mayor between 1989 and1990, so local government, you could say, is ‘in the blood’.

Councillor Lloyd currently serves on the Town Council’s Mayoral & Protocol and the General Purposes Committees and is also a member of the Maintenance & Sustainability Working Party. Keith is the Council’s representative for Age Concern, School Governor at St Gregory’s RC School and President of the Phoenix Players amateur dramatic group.

Leisure Activities
Keith is an ardent supporter of Manchester City and attends matches whenever possible. Being a proud Welshman, he enjoys seeing them doing well in his native sport, even if it is at the expense of beating England!
