The Queen's Award for Voluntary Service - Award Nominations
Lord-Lieutenants have been asked by the Cabinet Secretary to encourage recommendations for National Honours for individuals and the Queen's Award for Voluntary Service for voluntary organizations, and the Cabinet Office will be spearheading a publicity campaign starting shortly. Town and Parish Councils within Warwickshire are being asked to spread the message as widely as possible.
There are people in Warwickshire from all walks of life who have worked selflessly and without any thought of reward. Through their efforts other people's lives have been improved and their activities have earned them the respect of their peers. In some areas their work has been sustained over a long period of time and needed a degree of moral courage.
The Lord-Lieutenant of Warwickshire, Mr Martin Dunne believes that there are good candidates from within Warwickshire whose names are not being put forward because there is widespread unawareness of the procedure to be followed. I have a copy of the Honours Nomination Form and Guidance Notes or you can download these direct from the Cabinet Office's website at www.honours.gov.uk.
The Queen's Award for Voluntary Service is an annual award for outstanding achievement by groups of volunteers who regularly devote their time to helping others in the community. The next round of nominations will open on 2 June 2008. If you know of a volunteer or volunteering group that is really making a difference within the community, and you think they should be nominated for an Award, more information can be found on the website www.queensawardvoluntary.gov.uk or by calling the Awards hotline on 0845 000 2002. |
